Common questions

Reuse FAQ

Concise answers about links, excerpts, images, and permission requests.

May I link to an article?

Yes. You may link to a publicly available California Rise Report page without requesting permission.

May I quote a short passage?

A limited, attributed quotation may be permissible under fair use or another legal exception. Whether a particular use qualifies depends on its full context.

May I republish an entire article?

Not without written permission unless an applicable law independently authorizes that use.

Does attribution alone make reuse permissible?

No. Attribution identifies the source, but it does not by itself authorize copying that otherwise requires permission.

Are third-party images covered by this policy?

Not necessarily. Images and other material credited to third parties remain governed by their respective rights and license terms.

How do I request permission?

Email the site with the specific material, intended use, publication format, audience, and proposed attribution.
